With reference to your letter of the 2nd November last applying for a four months extension of leave owing to the state of your health I am directed by Mr Secretary Chamberlain to inform you that the Governor of Hongkong has reported that this extension can be granted without causing expense or inconvenience to the public service.
1 He adds that if this extension is granted you would be due to arrive in the Colony on the 1st August but as that month is a school vacation he proposes that you should be given the option of arriving on the 1st Sept.
